Cyber security: the essentials

We want to be easy to work with, and that comes with demonstrating that we’re a low-risk, resilient business partner. For us, a Cyber Essentials accreditation goes a long way in telling that story.

For many businesses, their supply chain is their biggest risk and weakest link. So, when it comes to making the decision to work with us, we want it to be a straightforward one and we understand that, in today’s climate, our creative, strategic and technical expertise can no longer compensate for any weaknesses in our business security and resilience. That’s exactly why a Cyber Essentials accreditation is good for us and good for our clients.

Avoiding awkward questions

Procurement is tricky enough – the last thing any supplier, or buyer, wants is to have to jump through any more hoops than absolutely necessary. By being Cyber Essential accredited we effectively bypass many of the security related concerns that need to be addressed at the initial stages of any partnership discussion and we save ourselves and our friendly procurement team a lot of time in the process.

Building a responsible business

We’ve got an obligation to our clients to take cyber security seriously. We’re looking after their data and assets, so the last thing we want is to have any vulnerabilities that would compromise the service that we’ve promised them and, at worst, open ourselves up to a breach that would be costly to our reputation and our revenue. Cyber Essentials helps put our mind at ease that we’re doing all the right things when it comes to being a responsible business.

Looking after ourselves

Cyber Essentials accreditation involves a thorough assessment of everything concerning IT and security, including devices, equipment, operating systems, IT infrastructure, working environments, firewalls, password management, user accounts, data access, security updates, software and user access control. It sounds overwhelming but, as the name suggests, it is essential and, through following the process, we’re provided with the reassurance that no stone has been left unturned.

An added benefit of Cyber Essentials for those that are accredited is that they’re provided with automatic business cyber insurance cover – another must for anyone operating in the digital sphere. We’re happy to chat security any time so if you want to know more about our experience of Cyber Essentials or what it can offer in terms of a low risk profile please get in touch with us.
