It has been the subject of great debate – creativity is either something you’re got or you’ve not. There’s no doubt Ian lives and breathes design and after 27 years of experience in the industry, creativity is something he’s definitely got. Case closed.

David Hockney was one of the reasons I went to Art College when I was 16. When I first knew of him, he was at the Royal College of Art and he was already acknowledged as the leading British artist of his era. He's from Yorkshire so he was the local lad made good and all that. No real airs and graces. He's a very honest painter who appreciates skill and craft. Always looking to innovate and try something new but with a respect for the ‘real' artists of the past and their skills. Most of all, he has the talent and the charisma to inspire and these are basic icon givens. I still have the blue horizontal-banded tie which I got at 18 to be like him. 'Didn't work on the talent front but I still have the tie.
